loomcd - minor sound problem - bug?

loomcd - minor sound problem - bug?

Postby michel-at-pocketscumm » Feb 9, 2003 @ 6:38pm

I really enjoy your program, it kicks ass on my Ipaq 3950(XScale 400MHz)!!
All works perfectly, except the sound in loom. I ripped the audio track off my cd, converted it to 48kbit/s, 22.05 kHz, named it Track1.mp3, as i read in another thread.
All worked like a charm, but when i play, it plays every sound a bit too long, e.g. if you spell a spell, you hear the next tone(not only 4 tones, but 5). Or at the end of a sentence, you hear the beginning of the next sequence of the audio track (and you definitely shouldn't hear that).
It does not affect the playability of the game.

Is this a known bug, or is it just me having this problem? I read the threads about loom, spent a whole day searching for a solution. It seems to me like a bug in the mp3-player, but i am not sure.

Thanx in advance, and i am looking forward to play Monkey Island 1 on my Pocket PC.

P.S.: I set the value of SoundThreadPriority to 2-4, but that didn't help either. Any clue? I converted the wav file with the LAME encoder (WinLame).

Ok, i solved the problem, thanx!
I just followed SirDave's PocketScumm manual, and it worked!

I am not totally sure what exactly the problem was, because i converted the .wav-file even at 64kb/s, mono and stereo(with WinLame).
I think the problem arised because i first of all ripped it to the HD (with CDex)at 44100 Hz (.wav) and then tried to convert it with WinLame at 22050 Hz(.mp3).
Either the .wav file was somehow not precise enough(corrupted??), or WinLame srcewed it up, or even me ;-).
But that is just a guess ;-).

Thanx to you all, and keep up the great work!
