Nope the problem was due to a particular savegame - near the end of DOTT. :( I will e-mail it to you soon.

Success! I have created a GAPI library for the Jornada 820. It's not crash hot, but it does work with PocketScumm. I put a copy up at

I did notice though that the PocketScumm user interface doesn't really support KfPalette too well. Everytime the palette changes the interface palette gets modified. Perhaps it would be best to use B&W interface toolbar?

The sound/mixer is also still a little quirky/jerky but I don't know how to go about fixing that. Perhaps it's a problem with the Mixing code in PocketScumm under WinCE 2.11? Or it could be a bandwidth problem. :(

Running COMI automatically puts the display in landscape mode, and it hangs. I'm running Test820 GDI 2 atm.

I'll put some screenshots up at

Whoops, it looks like the screenshot program I was using (ScreenSnap v4.0) doesn't save the files with the correct palette when I run GAPI programs. I still put them up, but they're sorta trippy without the correct palette. :)

Anyway, GAPI works, but the mouse cursor corrupts the display sometimes. Additionally, pressing the start key will bring up the start menu, but it won't be overwritten again by PocketScumm. I haven't got any of the GAPI input routines going yet.

Not sure what to do about the above. Any suggestions?

The cursor bug might be a bug in my code  I never really tested it for a 640x480 resolution ... depends if it worked with the GDI rendering I guess

The version of the audio decoder build for the 820 is special (ie build with an HPC ARM configuration, all the other are build with a Palm size PC configuration or a Pocket PC/Smartphone configuration) - perhaps there are some problems in the optimization for this platform ?

about COMI problems yes, if you can build a debug build, I'm sure it would help a lot :D

I'm not sure if I'm being clear on the cursor problem. The Jornada 820 uses a touchpad device similar to the one found on a notebook. It doesn't use a touchscreen, hence it has a mouse cursor. Not many other devices have mouse cursors. About the only other way to have a mouse pointer on a WinCE device is to use a mouse on different HPC, or use Deje's USB HID-Driver @ . This cursor likes to leave behind stuff. Has anyone tried running PocketScumm, and used a USB mouse on their Pocket PC to control it??? How did you test the cursor code? I don't really know how the mouse cursor is supposed to be handled under GAPI.

The + cursor drawn when you're in the menus seems to be drawn ok.

Is there any reason why the Pocket PC ARM audio decoder can't be used on the HPC? Does the Jornada 720 use the HPC decoder or the PPC decoder?

oh ok, I was talking about the internally managed ScummVM cursor - you should find a way to disable the Jornada cursor, if there is any :)

I think that the Jornada 720 work with the PocketPC version ... probably because it doesn't have the same OS than the 820 and some exports are missing for the 820 (not sure about this, but it was the problem in the first place I guess since the old PocketPC build did not work with the 820)

sure, but I'm not planning to modify the video code for the moment (it's too messy, will only be useful for one device and the filter would just probably slow everything down and make it non enjoyable)
