Anyway to compress huge sound files for Scumm?

I'm using DOTT (still have the old cd from the 486 days , but the speech file is 256 megs. Is there anyway to compress this down to size? If not, is gzip support or some sort of fix for this in the future?

Just go buy a 1GB MicroDrive, I've got Full Throttle, DOTT, Sam&Max and Indy4 installed and running all with full speech =). However I kind of wish they'd support the Video's in Full Throttle or allow you to skip them in SCUMMVM.
