wow ... a major step backward 8O ack for the menu, I didn't check it in portrait mode and my blitting routine is just wrong ; the screen update shouldn't be much slower than before (only slower when the in-game GUI is displayed) ... ok will see this tomorrow, fix the portrait GUI blitting and implement a cleaner screen refresh if I can find some time

Can't notice much difference between the two versions :o(

The menu now works in non-lanscape mode, but in game sprites are misplaced, the backgrounds render properly. Something wrong with Blting? (Graphics are fine in landscape)

It's still mainly just the music that is slowing everything down. The game runs fine when the music is simple, but as soon as it gets into faster / complicated polyphony sections of music it slows to a crawl. Perhaps add an option to disable music for now?

New versions crash in DOTT in the animation just after Bernard frees the tentacles. Dr. Fred says "To the time machine!" the screen fades to black then it crashes, no error message. (I checked this twice on both versions 25/10 and 26/10 - crashed in the same place every time)

I'm still stuck trying to get the CVS tree code to compile - got it to compile with MAD, but it gets stuck with SDL - i've not got the patience to sort it all out at the moment. Any chance you could mail me all your current code so I can poke about with it?

ok. the menu work now on my pda but if there are animation graphic glitches. but only in nonlandscape mode. also it's impossible for me to enter samnmax in nonlandscape mode cause the screen looked overlayed (look like i see all double (i'm not drunken)). if music is on i hear alot of hicks and the game slow down. if sound is disabled the animation speed is correct

but great work :)

A bit of an improvement on the sound with my 3970. It doesn't pop any more but the speech still has pauses and breaks in it where pops were.

Portrait mode works perfectly now at least - gives a slight speed improvement.

I've been looking at the midi code and can't see anything that should be causing as much slowdown as i'm getting. I guess it's just the amount of data it's moving around with music and speech playing.
