Help with registration!

I downloaded snails from handango (the full version) and on the page that links to the download, there is a registration code. I clicked on the instal button for snails and I got to the part where I must input my name and registration code. I entered them both in, but it says:

Unable to register online. Please verify your internet connection. You can continue without online resgistration, but you might not get access to free updates. Do you want to continue?

What should I do? If I click yes, will I still get access to free updates?
HELP!

Well, just get connected to the net and register. How hard is that?

I am connected to the internet. Do I have to go to the website to register? Do I have to create an account in the members area with my registration code? Because the "Join" link is broken.

You don't have to go to the website to register. I really think there must be something wrong with your internet connection.

I have installed/uninstalled Snails a number of times, and never had the problem of registering online.

Haven't got any firewall/router, and I usually can register online.

Just now I try to install again, but it says I'm not connected to the net, but really, I am connected. Anyway, in the game itself (main title), it shows my name (and registration code alternately) in the top right hand corner of the screen, does that mean I'm already registered?
