I worked on some weapon-aiming animations a while back, but I didn't like the way any of them turned out. It just didn't look good at the current size of the sprite.
If I had a little more room, I wanted to add a massive cannon that opened up out of their shell. I have a pic of it somewhere- the cannon was twice the size of the snail. But the current sprites are way too small for something like that.
Which reminds me. I have a few weapons that never made it into the final version of snails:
molotov cocktail
green Napalm Gel
landmine (early screenshots might even show this) something like a rope (I don't want to describe it, in case we do add this eventually)
Do snails have mystical powers?
