holiday scene? doesn't the latest version come with all 16 Snails levels, including the holiday levels? Or are we talking about a different holiday level?

The newer versions include, I think, 14 levels. It's missing the randomly generated level that came with in the original

Are you putting the pictures in their own folders in the levels folder or are you just putting everything in the levels folder?
