240x320 is the default mode on the Toshiba e805. To get into 480x640 mode, you need to run a hack called ResFix, and reset the PDA, and it will then boot up in 480x640 mode. Toshiba does not officially support the 480x640 mode in anything other than ClearVue, which is just a couple of .doc/.xls viewers. I would assume that the 240x320 mode is just the ATI chip performing pixel doubling in hardware, so the interesting thing would be if PocketHAL could switch the ATI chip to pixel doubling in 480x640 mode, without requiring the PDA to reset. That would be extremly helpful for people that prefer to run in 480x640 mode, but don't want the slowdown in games.
