2003 to WM5 upgraded PDAs only - Coredll exception

Hi all, I'm finding a problem running my PocketFrog 0.7.7 application - proven fine with 2002, 2003(SE)(VGA) and WM5(VGA) - on a device upgraded from 2003SE to WM5.

These devices are always either upgraded HP4700 series or Dell Axims.

An exception is thrown on the device, naming Coredll.dll as the source.

The WM5 version is compiled in VS2005, for ARMV4I, and works without problem on new WM5 devices.
Now, I know about 2003 devices having ARMV4 chips, and WM5 devices having ARMV4I chips, which are supposed to be backward compatible, so running an ARMV4 build on WM5 should work in theory.

Unfortunately I can't get the 2003 version to run on these devices, and I don't have an upgraded device to debug on.

Is anyone aware of something going on here that I've missed?

Having what appears to be the same problem in a customer's upgraded HP4705 - the application ran fine before ROM upgrade but now won't run anymore.

Probably it's just what happens on me(latest pfrog+phal), but only on ipaq 4700 upgraded to WM5. My game works fine on most devices(including upgraded to WM5 ipaqs like 2110, 2410), but they say it just doesn't start on upgraded 4700.
It doesn't even create a log file, so probably gameInit() doesn't even called.

I have tested PocketHAL on a Torq TEN (WM5.0) and it works properly.

I wanted to download the upgrade for the Axim x50v, but apparently it isn't available. You had to order a CD that isn't available anymore (for $45).

UPDATE: I did some research and apparently Dell doesn't support the upgrade anymore. They say the Axim x50v isn't compatible with WM5.0. They also provide a ROM update to go back to WM2003 SE. I doubt there is much I can do unless I somehow get my hands on that Dell upgrade.
