frank: I believe Johan and his staff wanted that banner enforced to relieve them from the burden of having to look for gapidraw-based games that are released w/out permission.

Johan: I honestly don't have funds to purchase an additional license considering I'm already paying for FMOD but if it will be for the betterment of gapidraw, so be it. I will still be here to support gapidraw in whatever way I can. I'll be looking forward to 2.05's features and pricing scheme.

efortier: Yeah, gapidraw for Palm sounds cool! ;) I hope Johan can shorten that 6 month timeframe to just 3 months. :) Lol.

egarayblas: palm support in 6 months? where did you get this information? I've searched the forums and can't find any such information. Could it be that you confused this with the symbian port?

I think this is a situation where we really do have to wait and see all the details of the new licensing.

One would assume that when you pay for GD, you are entitled to some level of support above and beyond what we've had thus far. I would assume that is a variable in the licensing fees, i.e., pay more for better support.

If there is no additional support, I would firstly be shocked, and secondly yell very loudly because that would be completely ridiculous. I really don't expect that to be the case though.

As long as there is extended support when you pay, then the situation is really no different than it is now, and arguably better because then at least you can be assured of some level of support, whereas now you really aren't assured of anything. I would agree that we should get the source if there is no extended support, but I wouldn't expect to get the source any more than I expect to get the source for Windows, IF there is that support.

Well, there's still a number of things I prefer about GD. But hey, this isn't some religious thing with me... I'm not going to switch my current project over to PF, but who know what'll happen the next go-round.

I am most definitely going to have a look at the next generation of PF... I'm as curious as everyone else what it's going to all be about.

But then again, I'm just as curious to see what GD 2.05 adds, and what the licensing details will be.

Ah, I guess with all things my attitude is pick the tool that best fits the job. Same thing here. If the GD licensing doesn't fit what I'm doing, I'll be back on PF in a hurry, but otherwise who knows.
