K&G Arcade Status Update

I don't know if anyone here has any particular interest, but I hit a big milestone today, so I'm kinda of proud of myself at the moment :) That's likely to change any minute of course!

I just finished the primary coding for K&G Arcade! I've completed 25 mini-games and the adventure portion of the game. It's a completely playable game at the moment, albeit with a ton of temp graphics still in place everywhere, and placeholders for the cut scenes, and sound effects in maybe 35% of it, but the coding is at this point finished.

I'm also very happy that the entire thing right now is only 1.3MB. And it needs no more than a meg to run at any given time as far as I can tell, so it's pretty good in that respect.

Now I have to ride my artist to get the graphics done, and I have to begin the process of writing the scripts for the cut scenes, as well as the data for four more character interactions, and of course add sound effects, write music and polish, polish, polish. Geez, it didn't SEEM like that much was left a minute ago! :)

Hmm... I think I'm forgetting something... hmm... oh yeah... DEBUGGING!! It actually looks rather stable right now. I can honestly say that I haven't experienced a single crash that I couldn't immediately fix because it was due to something I had just added, so although I'm sure there's a bunch of minor things to fix (I have a list of about 10 myself), I don't suspect there's anything major. Maybe.

I'm hoping to get some of you GD users to do some testing for me once it's all put together. I think we're still on track for a late March release.

Depending on exactly when everything gets done will determine if and how many hidden mini-games there will be. I still have about 50 concepts written up, and I'd like to put one hidden game per level (five total). My guess is that I'll be waiting on my artist, he does good work but he has a lot of other things on his plate so he's not the quickect worker, so I should in theory have time to do that.

Things are looking pretty good! Now I'll sit back and listen for the sound of the other shoe dropping...

Oh yeah... the web site is up:

Don't rush out to see it, there's not much, although the Flash intro I really like. If you catch what it's a rip-off of, you should get a chuckle out of it.

You guys probably caught this already, but just in case...

The K&G Arcade web site is now up, with real content finally!

I actually had fun putting it together yesterday... Lots of little humorous bits all over the place... Well, they are MEANT to be humorous anyway :)
