Hey Moose, I'd stay out of the AG forum if I were you. Carp doesn't like you and that's totally understandable considering your attitude and what you and Eike did.

Carp, give the guy his update ASAP. If I gave away free copies of my game, and a winner of my game no matter how rude wanted an update, I'd give it to him no questions asked. It's only fair, as your the dev and he's the customer (even if he didn't technicly buy it). If you get in fights with customers it just makes you and your company look bad. I admit alot of people are greedy ungratefull bastards, and that's too bad, but that's life. Like how alot of people got their panties in a bunch because it took so long for argentum to be released, and so they branded you and IonSide as assholes. I wish the general public understood how hard developing and marketing good games was too, but they don't so oh well. But anyway, I'm getting a J568 soon, so hopefull I will at last be able to play one of the greatest games for the PPC.

Carp (jeez that would be bad if I misspelled your name...), I know you have no idea who the heck I am, but here's what I think. I haven't read the e-mails or anything and I have to say, even if he was rude (which I'm not saying he was) you should still give him the update. I really think it's fair. Here's my take on it. If you win a car from Ford, their tires are exploding, and now they're recalling the tires. You take it back, demand your new tires, and they don't give them to you. I think it's messed up. It's now your property and you should be treated as if you bought the car. Same with this, it's his property since you gave it to him.

oh well...I (the other Ionside dev) know nothing about this issue, and I am actually not to keen to touch any of this. So I leave that to you guys...


Anyways...what I really wanted to post is something about our future game(s).


While both me and Carpe have been taking a vacation I do have been doing some hobby programming in the meantime. Now this hobby programming has actually been all work. I have been working on a new core system derived from the one in Argentum. Basically what I have been doing is taking the best from Argentum, cleaned it up, and added some more new features and functionallity.

What we are talking about here is only the core engine. On this any game could be built. I'm talking about image displaying, text printing, file handling and stuff like that. The good thing with this is that it will probably be mostly ready when we start coding on the next game. And since Carpe is the Ionside gameplay überprogrammer then it fits well. I mean in Argentum I was doing (mostly) core systems and gfx programming and carpe was (mostly) doing the gameplay programming such as AI and all that stuff. So we'll have a pretty decent core to start from now, which is (hopefully) bug free and tested (yeah right...*ahem* *cough* *cough*...*smile*).

Anyways...I have been developing some new stuff aswell which will make a great impact in our future games, so I guess I can say that our next game will not be just the same thing again.

We'll let you know more when we have decided what type of game we want to do and got some development time on that game clocked in. I know I got a bunch of ideas to what I want to do, and I guess Carpe has got quite a few aswell...

Maybe we can do many games at the same time too...shouldn't be impossible at all. Like one "big" game and a few smaller ones.

Frankly I really don't know what is coming so we'll see...

I liked that thing about hobby programming for work, hehe.

But you guys should make a Diablo type game (but not fantasy themed, maybe sci-fi or fiction) with fully 3D rotatable camera angle and randomly generated terrain. And if you do, make sure you add in some kind of multiplayer server for when 3G launches and when everything starts going wireless. Then you guys would be like the Blizzard of the PocketPC.

I'd love to see an official add-on to Argentum, maybe with one or two new units or a couple new features. Shouldn't be too much trouble, outside of the code.

Next project sounds interesting already.. too bad it isn't Abuse :P
