Embedded visual C++ - crash on 'new project' dialog open

Postby bliNdcHimp » Jun 11, 2003 @ 11:52am

Hi, im a pocket pc newbie. i hope im not posting a question thats been asked millions of times (i did a search and got nothing) , so here goes:

I installed Embedded visual C++ 3 (with the included SDK), and then the new gapidraw SDK.
everything went fine, i could set up projects and compile/run on emulator fine.

On some site i saw a comment that the emulator included in the embedded visual studio wasnt very reliable, and that the one in the seperate pocketpc2002_sdk was better. so i uninstalled the bundles SDK and installed the seperate one.

Now, its totally broken my VC++!

when i do a file->New which normally opens the new project window to let you select a application/processor type it crashes with a:
'<process has closed> has caused errors. the application needs to be restarted. an error log has been created'

it also does the same thing when i open VC++ options, and click the directory tab.

does anyone have ANY idea what has gone wrong here? ive uninstalled everything and tried to remove all traces (directories that werent removed, registry entries etc) and even when i just install the basic SDK its still doing the same thing.

any advice much appreciated!
cheers,
Rog
