Well must ports will more than likely have the source GNU'ed so you cant sell it. Like PocketQuake. Of course there are ways to make a profit off it anyways.

Summary so far

Postby Avatar » Oct 14, 2001 @ 1:11am

I finally had some time to go through this thread and try to make some sense out of it.
Here's the situation (i.e. the team setup) as I see at so far:
Phantom - coding
RICoder - coding
Dave Thomas - coding, fast food (burgers, fries, etc.)
Boogaloo Shrimp - gfx
Jaybot - sound
Avatar - coding, gfx, sound (depending on how the workload is distributed, I might specialise in just one of the 3)

I left some people out because I think that this team should consist exclusively of people who know what they are doing at the current moment, rather than sometime in the future.
I would really like to see Digby and Dan East join the team, as they obviously have experience in the PPC areas (or they pretend really well).
I would also like to get more artists or musicians on the project. Though porting usually means just changing code to work with the pre-made gfx or music, I'm sure they would come in handy :)

Thanks for the invite but I don't have the free time to devote to something like this. I also have some personal issues with porting and emulators as they seem to always result in the illegal distribution of copyrighted material. If I had the time I'd probably choose to work on something original.

That being said, I don't mind answering any technical questions you might have about Pocket PC programming.

I'm hoping that a team of decent people will produce a legal outcome, though of course it is often the end-user that violates the law.
Anyway, it's too bad that you can't join, but I completely understand the reason...

sorry to hear your not interested digby. But couldn't you guys put in some security to make sure they bought the original game for the data files? Like use the cd-key on the original game cd? Or is this to much work for something they can just crack anyways?
