I believe free software exists because there are still a lot of developers out there who value fulfillment more than the money he can generate with it. Even if you sold your SW, you'd still be happy to see someone use it and introduce it to his friends, right? You're happy not only because you generated money from it but SOMEONE values your SW.
Damian: I also hate games who ask for the CD before you can play it but I guess its "legal" to download a cracked exe from the web if you own a license for a certain game. I do this most of the time to "preserve" my original CDs. :) More cost-effective than what DillRye does. :)
