Thanks for the advice. Installed the GAPI files and it now works well.

The only slight glitch is that on my iPAQ it needs to be topped to get rid of it's icon in the top menu bar, otherwise I'd be running this all the time!

BTW as there seems to be afair number of graphic orientated guys in here - any of you considered the Tekguru site logo competition, $500 of Pocket PC Software up for grabs.

Hey freddy, if in order to skin stuff you are doing what i think you are doing, then i fear you'll never get it to work on the casio, but i'm sure there must be a workaround to get it running, but it probably won't be as fast as it is now.
Also i think it would be very easy to skin the start menu, and even add some nice warp animations at practically no cpu cost.

One little glitch i noticed i guess is if you put a wider image as your background/wallpaper then it bleeds onto the Start menu. I suppose they do transparency for the start menu rather than filling it solid...or..the skinion just overlays all white areas on the screen?

Anyway, here's my skinion/WisBar combo i did and use.

I'm not use to using targa files so I couldnt get the palette/colors right for my bottom bar or my wallpaper. I'd prefer to have some green on the wallpaper and a closer grey color match for the bottom bar...but...i cant seem to save tga's in 256 colors right.

Image

fredrik make it so we can move the start menuu to the bottom like on pockettv, that'd make his skin look perfect. Just like windows.

Little trouble

Postby Arthur Grokhovski » Aug 19, 2001 @ 4:09pm

Please, help me. I have downloaded Skinion.zip, extracted it and copy all content to my iPAQ to folder named Program Files\Skinion. When I start Skinion.exe, it starts and I see a new toolbar and wallpaper. But I do not see a new Start button and other wisbar images. These images are in the folder Program Files\Skinion\Wisbar images.
What should I do in this case?
Sorry for my English, please.

Sincerely,
Arthur Grokhovski

I have included some step by step instructions on getting this stuff working in the PocketMatrix skin text file. Grab it here: www.Pocketmatrix.com/matt/pmatrixskin.zip

Well, you have to have WIS bar installed and set it up manually...

I don't think this app will work for SH3 and MIPS devices for the same reason you can't see the SIP in Pocket Quake when the console is visible.
It is dependent upon the exact way in which GAPI is implemented.
Fredrick, I'm pretty sure I know how you're pulling this off, and it's a clever idea. To do what your doing the "right" way (hooking into the windows api and capturing WM_ERASEBKGND, etc) would be next to impossible.

Dan East

No, it doesn't. That's why we said it only works on Casio and Ipaq.
