PPC Simple Game Benchmark Score Compilation?

I have been reading this forums a lot lately. And I have been a little upset on the reports that new PPC’s are having worse game performance than the old ones.

To get a better picture of the situation I have looked around for some PPC-test in magazines and the net but not found any. What I am really looking for is some kind of compilation of benchmark score for different PPC’s.

So one of my questions is: Have anyone done a program that would work as a benchmark tool? It would at least follow these guiding principles:

1. Free
2. Easy to install, easy to remove
3. Small memory footprint
4. Test some gaming aspects
5. No randomness in the tests
6. Report the scores in a easy readable manner
7. Work for different CPU’s and OS versions

It doesn’t need be a universal game test benchmark utility; here is a proposal to a simple benchmark test:

1. Integer code (maybe something like A*), lower time is better
2. Pure graphics page flipping test, higher framerate is better
3. Sprite test, higher sprite count is better
4. Floating point calculations, lower time is better

I could do such a program (if there are no other program) and also set up some mailing account to where people could mail their results, compile the benchmark results. What I need is some web space, to publish the results and some file space to host the benchmark tool.

Any suggestions?

There are a couple different benchmark utiliies that are available, plus some custom ones (such as Digby's). As for an existing benchmark database, the Pocket Quake benchmarks is probably the most complete database available at this time. It is in .

Digby:
Ok, understandable. I think I will skip the benchmark tool/compilation plans for now. Just finish my game and let some people try it and report their framerates...

egarayblas:
Yes, that’s true. For example a chess game, or why not Civilization clone.
