You could likely get away with using likenesses, but there is no way you could use the names without a license of some sort.
And getting the permission to use the names is not likely to happen to anything but a large project. From what I hear they tend to take a more intense involvement, and unless you have a department of people that's job title is licensing relations (or at minimum a legal department) I doubt you could deal with it.

Anyway the logic here is that these car models have value (or you obviously wouldn't want to use them) and this value is the car company's.
