Direct3D is available in Windows CE 4 also!
That Intel and Microsoft are working to together to support it is good news however! Then perhaps it can be useful and end up in the Pocket PC (or whatever they will call it) SDK.

More detail about Direct3D Mobile will be coming along as the technology is first released in Windows CE 5.0 and as more drivers come along. We've been working on 3D support for Windows CE for a long time and this time we think we've gotten it right! If you have a little PB savy, I think you can grab the Windows CE 5.0 Technology Preview and have a look at the D3Dm API in there.
