An adventure game system demo to try

I've been working on my Mobile Tile System for adventure/RPG games over the last few months, and I'd love it if some of you guys could give this sample of a game a try and give me some feedback.

I've created installers, but have only tested all this on my own pocket pc (an O2 XDAII).

Here is where to download:

(approx 1MB)

(approx 1MB)

Just a couple of notes:

- You may need a lot of memory to run this once installed (like, at least 14 or 15MB).
- The music is temporary, just for testing purposes.

If the thing installs but doesn't start, please let me know and I will try to find out why.

Thanks! Nathan

It worked on my h2215 wm2003 just fine. I liked what I saw too. Also I got a constant 20fps.

Is the game capped to 20 FPS? Seems a bit low - but admittedly, I haven't tried it yet!

Presto:
Thanks, I'll change that next time I make the installers.

Sponge:
Yes, the game is capped to 20fps. There's a few reasons for that:

- I don't think this is unusual for adventure games.
- I began working on this game using my old Toshiba and it was significantly slower.
- It's mostly a matter of me not wanting to draw heaps of animation frames for characters walking, etc. Even with 20fps, many of my animations are running at two or more frames per frame!

Tried it out here. I would still suggest raising the cap - scrolling is noticably choppy in this version! You can keep the animation frames the same, just bump up the framerate so scrolling looks better.

Otherwise, looks cool - can't recall any engine like this in existance for PPC.

Two suggestions:

DPad controls - probably obvious.
LEFT HANDED MODE@#$)( Personal pet peeve of many, many, PPC games - the pad is on the right, annoying to reach it when playing on my A620.
