SDL and phone messages

Hi,
I'm making a game for pocket PC and smartphone using pure SDL. I have a problem: how do I detect if a phone is calling or any other message comes that gets the game out of focus and wierd things start to happen (like I can see the game but not control it). How can I prevent this or at least automaticly exit the game when something like this happens.
