Porting Command & Conquer to PocketPC?

I believe it would be possible, considering the game is playable on a 486, and runs in 320x240x256.. Wouldn't even have color problems on the iPaq.

A friend a mine is developing an open source engine for Command & Conquer, and so far, it's coming along quite well.. It's called FreeCNC, and you can check it out @ freecnc.sourceforge.net

It has a Windows port, as well as a Linux port. Does anyone here besides me think this could be ported?

Oh and, if this was ported.. It wouldn't be hard to port over Red Alert, considering the engines are quite similar. In fact, C&C 95 was based off the Red Alert engine.

The only thing we'd lose in the port, would be the movies.. But with a 512MB CF card, wouldn't even lose that.

I would certainly think a port would be possible. How stable / complete is his engine?

it makes perfect sense for me.
paul obviously complained about rage posting about cnc. later he modified his post and inserted the last part of dans post so he appears to be smart.

Well, it appears that it is working well, since this thread is making less and less sense as everyone is trying to explain themselves...

The engine is developed using SDL. What's that? :) I believe porting would only be viable if C/C++ sources are available.
