CVS servers

I was thinking a bit of the future of Ionside, and realized we need a source control system. So I was just wondering if there is any trustworthy server on the internet who offer this free. I know sourceforge does, but they are only for opensource projects.

Sure I guess I could set up a CVS server on my local machine. But then it would have to be running all the time for carpe to be able to connect to it. And that is a problem since I need to sleep in the same room and can't sleep with that monsterfan running.

Maybe CVS is something for PocketMatrix?

So what tools do you guys use for source code versioning, management, etc?

I'd put CVS up on my server, but I can't access it from here at work, which would make it hard to manage.

If you got the money, I used Visual Source Safe 6.0 and an addon client (rather spendy one) to allow use across the web. CVS is nasty, but they're finally getting some good GUIs for both the server and the clients.

I only have good experiences with CVS though...
