Problem with MM_WOM_DONE sound loop

Problem with MM_WOM_DONE sound loop

Postby Dave » Jun 19, 2002 @ 10:41pm

I'm making a sound loop for streaming digital sound and it works fine on a Jornada 565 and an iPAQ 3630, however when you turn the iPAQ off and on, sometimes the MM_WOM_DONE messages just stop and thus it goes quiet. Sometimes the program turn unresponsive after that happened and I have to hit the reset switch on the iPAQ.

Is this a bug on the iPAQ? Anyone had any experience using the MM_WOM_DONE message: is it any better to use a Windows Event to signal to fill the sound loop? (What do FMod and the other professional library use and do they suffer from the same problems?)

Actually it's not just me - I can reproduce the bug using the Pocket-G MOD player. Can someone else confirm this bug?

1. Play a MOD file in the Pocket-G player from http://www.pocket-g.com/
2. Turn off and then back on again (probably no sound when you turn back on)
3. Press the Start icon in the top-left corner
4. Press the "File" button in the bottom-left corner

The system should CRASH! You can't do anything!
Is it just me or does anyone else have this bug - any idea what's going on?

It's a 2002 thing. It can be workedaround at the user level by turning off screen and button tap sounds.
