Well, it sounds good. The only thing I worry about is if evB is capable of such a project.. but if you can pull it off, well, it would be neat!

Yeah, it sounds fun.

I'm sure people will have tried to do this sort of thing with VB before, so you can apply the same principles to eVB.

Can't help you out much with links, but many of the guys at are into the kind of graphics you get in those games, so you could learn a lot on the art side.

Good to see another eVB programmer on PocketMatrix. :) Figuring out how to do stuff with sprites in eVB is a real bitch, as there is virtualy no information on how to do it. I'm currently working on a eVB game with animated sprites. I have had to figure out how to do 80% of the problems I've encountered, so I know how you feel. If you give me a day or two, in my free time I'll write a quick tutorial on sprites in eVB for ya(animating, drawing, advanced picturebox controls, ect.).

Oh and don't waste your money on ASpriteCE, unless you need alot of speed, like for a space shooter. EVB is alot faster than you think when it comes to graphics. For instance, in my game I'm animating 9 50x50 sprites with 12 frames each, and I have no lag.

actually, sorry to say, this project has been abandoned. After messing around in eVB for a while, i relized that it isnt really that great for what i want to do. I might still try to make a fully text based version of the game though. Right now i am working on a PC version of the game. Techmage is right about AspriteCE being very hard! I wanted to use that, but it is way to complicated. I would also like to learn C++. Anyone know any good tutorials for an absolute beginner???

Please don't read this the wrong way, but I think it's a shame that you're deciding not to develop this game just because your set of tools is wrong for the job. No offence, but build a new library or have someone else do it, and then go on with the game I'd say...
