Assertion Failed when run? XP?

I am trying to run the caverunner sample app
it compiles fine in vc++ 6 but if I try to run it I keep getting the error "Assertion Failed"
I have copied the ptc.dll and hermes.dll to the windows dir
any ideas?

also is anyone developing on MIPS or XP with overloaded? seems to have more issues than what ive seen posted.

I have looked at the code but not sure what is wrong.
Ex-VB programmer, only been programming C++ for 1 month , apreciate any help you can give.
