Getting started

Is it possible to get started with
EasyCE if you only now like regular ansi C and a little wint32 api programming. I mean is it easy to read the tutorials without knowing a bit of c++ becuase the first one started saying something about classes but i had to go so i didnt get a chance to finish it.

Hi Robert,

All of Jacco's tutorials are worth reading, but the best way to get to grips with EasyCE is too look at the Lemmings example.

EasyCE makes life a lot easier and does not require a full understanding of how windows works - though understanding windows will help.

I hope this helps
Bad

Ya but my question is, is do you have to know the ++ part of c to get a good grip with the tutorials.

If you just want a quick yes or no answer, just skip to the bottom, I tend to get long-winded about overly simple ideas :)

As far as I can remember, the tutorials (and EasyCE itself for that matter - although that will soon change, according to the post on version 2.0) don't really require much OOP (ie c++) knowledge to understand. The main library is completely void of c++, and the only thing that uses it are the sprites, actors and sounds, which are only really there in case you want them. You are probably better off doing them in a way which better fits your programming style anyway, whether you are using c++ or not. Anyway, back to the original point, you should be able to follow the tutorials with minimal knowlegde of c++. For the most part, you basically need to know how to make colors in 16-bit. A little knowledge of graphics algorithms helps, but even that isn't really nescessary (unless you need blazing speed).

In other words, no, you don't need to know c++ until 2.0 comes out.
Most people don't know that "A highly technical term" is actually a highly technical term used to describe something that doesn't mean anything
