Hey all,
OK, I have some new goodies, I hope to release a new version of the library tomorrow. Cool new stuff:
- Jaap has coded an excellent tile class for a game that we are developing. He also made it load TileStudio maps, so you can create worlds using a decent tool. This class will be part of the Overloaded Game Foundation as of version 0.98.
- I added the parallax scrolling code from 'S.T.E.A.M.' to the library. Very easy to use, and very fast, because it's an overdraw-free algorithm. Right now I have a demo running with 8 layers. Layer compiler included, this tool turns an arbitrarily sized .tga (8bit) into a compressed layer file. It scans for duplicate spans and uses gzip to compress the final result. This results in VERY small files. The way the parallax scrolling stuff is set up makes it very easy to blend this with regular sprites and other graphics code.
- The manual got updated. Jaap is writing some info on his tile class, and I added a section with the 'minimal app' and detailed instructions for setting up a project from scratch.
The new distribution contains three new projects: The 'minimum' project, a parallax scrolling demo and the sources for the layer compiler.
- Jacco.
