making the pak0.pak file?

making the pak0.pak file?

Postby eH7116 » Jul 31, 2003 @ 4:15pm

I still have Quake 1 installed on my computer for some reason, but I can't find the cd. Is there anyway i can remake the pak0.pak file by maybe zipping all the data in the ID1 folder and renaming it to .pak? I know im goin out on a limb here.... :?

The pak0.pak file is in the ID1\ directory, along with the pak1.pak file in the registered full version of Quake. If the pak file has been unloaded some how then simply copy all of the files in the ID1\ folder over. The .pak file format is not compressed, it is simply a straight archive.

I put the whole ID1 folder on my storage card but when the game loads it stops on the console and freezes, so i have to soft reset...i feel like its not reading the directory quickly or maybe i have to give it more time to load?

Linux has a built in gzipping program?!?!

Well, I'm no computer guru and haven't worked with that OS.

Kinda cool.
