can you make the screen size larger?

does anyone know of somewhere where you can get tips on pocket quake--functions and all--esp. how do you change the screen size(show weapons bar, status bar, ect.)

You can do that in the options menu within the game. For a list of all of the console commands that you can put in the autoexec.cfg file then check out the Quake 1 section of www.planetquake.com (or it could be .org, not sure)..
