Lack of FPU really hurts performance; I tried to play Doom (DOS version, 320x200 [?]) on a Thinkpad with a 50mhz 486 and no FPU, and it was fairly slow. On a 75mhz P1 Thinkpad, it was smooth as butter.

And that's with Doom. Quake is a lot more FPU-intensive.
