custom map error message

Postby xidknightx » Mar 28, 2001 @ 4:52pm

I made a custom map and compiled it as a bsp. There were no leaks and there was a player start point, however when i try to load it from the console in pocket quake i get a windows dialoge box on my ipaq saying "Quake Error ED_LoadFromFIle found P when expecting {" what the hell does this mean and how do i fix it so i can make my own maps?

Sounds like a compile error, although I didn't know the error messages would be that specific. Maybe you just don't have the registered pak file, which I believe you have to have. Maybe Dan can tip us in on this.

Could be. :) If all else fails, try it with WinQuake (or original DOS Quake). If it won't work there...<br><br>Dan East

WinQuake, meaning for the PC, Not PPC. WinQuake and PocketQuake are identical in the results of the code.

Without knowing the editor and compilers you used, it's difficult to tell. That error occured because the engine was not able to parse the file for entities.<br><br>Try recompiling it, and test it on your desktop computer first.

yeah your right randall it was missing a light entity. I figured it would compile full bright like it does on the pc but i guess pocket quake needed it. its working. thanks
