Multiplayer w/PC

Multiplayer w/PC

I have my iPAQ hooked up via ethernet card to my network. I can ping it just fine and the ethernet stuff seems to be working.

I want to host a Quake game on my PC and connect to it from my iPAQ. How do I do this? I tried running Quake but there is no TCP/IP option for multiplayer. I then launched GLQuake and hosted a TCP/IP game. But, my iPAQ could not find the game even when I typed in the IP address. Am I missing something here? Is this possible?

Eventually I would like to connect to servers outside my LAN. But I'll be happy getting this working for now.

The possible problem could be that it isn't completely implemented yet you'd have to ask Dan or one of the other quake programmers if the tcp/ip is ready for it.

Yep, it works just fine. I've used PQ over ethernet TCP/IP with no problems. As you noted, the DOS version of Quake has no TCP/IP capability. I have used WinQuake, but not GLQuake, so I don't know if that is an issue. I specified the TCP/IP address of the machine running the Quake server in Pocket Quake.

Dan East

No joy with WinQuake either. I guess I just have something configured wrong somewhere.

I tried hosting on both sides and typing in the IP address of the other machine, but they never see each other. :(

Make sure you've got TCP/IP over ethernet configured on your PPC. I have no idea how to do anything related to this, but that's what it sounds like. Have you tried playing from PC to PC?

Here's a good question which type of ethernet adapter are you using?
