First off, you are running WinQuake on your PC, and not the original DOS version of Quake, correct? Second, you selected the TCP/IP protocol when you started the server game on your WinQuake server and not IPX, right? Finally, that error message does not appear in the Quake source. Could you provide the exact error message? Thanks.

No I’m not. I’m running glQuake but I’ve tried WinQuake before and it didn’t work as you are implying. The reason for running glQuake and not standard DOS quake is that I use win2000. Should try win95-98 with standard DOS quake? Yes I selected TCP/IP.

The server error message was “READ ERROR”. Can I see the exact error message in the quake console in any other way?
