I'd like to try Quake on my 3835. Other than your self installing Quake file, what else do I need, and what directory do I put it in?? I downloaded a pako.pak.gz file that's about 3meg. Is there a post that gives all the details. Thanks

Paul

Are you referring to PocketQuake 1, as this is actually the forum for PocketQuake 2? Pocket Quake 2, while an impressive acheivement, doesn't run at a decently playable speed yet and takes up a vast amount of memory (around 33megs!), unless you manually edit the pak files.

To play the original PocketQuake, follow the directions in the readme.txt file or on the PocketQuake site (.

By the way, what self-installing program are you referring to? To my knowledge, PQ has to be installed manually, as per the instructions in the readme.
Also, make sure you download Scott Ramsby's version, as the original Ipaq version won't run on your Ipaq 3835.
Lastly, where did you download the pak file from? You've said that the pak file that you have is 3megs, while the one on the PocketQuake site is around 8megs. It may be wise to download the pak file again if you've downloaded it from the PQ site.

Hmm. I remember trying PQ2 when it was released, but cannot remember if had my Ipaq 3870 then. It may well be that PQ2 doesn't work on the 38xx series, for the same reasons as the original PQ didn't. If so, don't worry you're not really missing too much: The gamep plays at around 3-4fps and requires far too much system resources (Around 20megs, if i remember right) anyway. However, if you're still keen on trying it, have a dig through this PQ2 forum, i'm sure you'll find someone asking about playing on a 38xx series, or something helpful.

Hmm. PQ2 does not seem to work on my 3870 either. It quits back to the Programs menu, after displaying the credits msgbox. I could've sworn i once saw another msgbox with the word 'error' in it after i had ran it, but it appeared unexpectedly (it hadn't gotten focus and was just 'waiting' when i was task-switching), and i never managed to read it before it disappeared. I really should look through the source...
