Try getting an Ipaq 36xx series. They've been superceded by the slightly-improved, newer 38xx series, so they are relatively cheap now. They use an ARM cpu so they can run all the latest stuff and, seeing as it is easily the most common PPC, you should have no problems trying to find one on Ebay or somewhere. It is also one of the only older PPCs that can be upgraded to PPC2K2 OS, which all the newer (& more expensive) devices are using.

Die, Palm, Die. If that offended you, then get rid of your Palm OS device.

wait some time for the new faster Pocket PCs... then you'll also be able to play Quake II with a better framerate...

I get frames per second, not seconds per frame, on my iPAQ, so I must assume that you are being somewhat sarcastic. It also annoys me that PQ2 is so under-developed that it barely runs at all, let alone consistently or stably.

Use the PocketPC emulator for PC and you get 60fps in PQ pretty easily. Not too mobile tho :P

The emulator is part of the SDK intended for developers. Look on the MSDN site. But, as such, it is not as simple to set-up and use as an emulator available for general use on a PPC e.g No official MS GAPI available (although there is a workaround), etc. But if you were planning to get it for playing PQ2, wouldn't it be better to just play the x86 version? :)

As powerful & optimised as DieselEngine is, I doubt there is any major performance to be gained from implementing it with PQ2, in fact it may even become slower! What i do like about DieselEngine is it's similarity to many DirectX functions, but it's apparently pricey. PQ2's performance is more due to the relatively weak cpu, not really the inefficiency of the code. Send him a copy though, i suppose he has nothing to lose! (apart from time & energy :) )
