No Space for gfx.wad (flames to /dev/null)

Postby Josh McFall » May 3, 2002 @ 9:06am

I've seen a lot of users getting pissed because other users ask about this. I COULD NOT follow the README exactly, because the pak0.pak file was not gzipped when I got the .zip archive. Perhaps this is WinZip being overzealous and extracting the gzip archive without telling me.

However, with the .pak file in such a state, it DOES NOT FIT IN THE ROOT DIRECTORY OF MY JORNADA 548 POCKET PC. This particular device has only 32MB of memory without the 128MB CF card.

I have the same 'W_LoadWadFile: couldn't load gdx.wad' error. With the space limitation in mind, does anyone have a polit workaround or fix?

Regards,

Did you read the ? If you downloaded the pak0.pak file from the PQ website, then you downloaded a zipped file. Inside of that zip is a gz file pak0.pak.gz. Now, the File Explorer on your PC is configured by default to "hide file extensions for known types", so the file may be gzipped, but the .gz is hidden. The file is around 8 MB gzipped, and something like 20 MB uncompressed.
