I found it rather ironic that they used Pocket Quake to pitch the article, and only give it a little, and rather generic, description.

I should have contacted my friend there to do a proper write up on PQ alone.

Oh well, any press is good press. :)

the write did suck, and they didn't give any screenshots of pq and they featured ziogolf 1 not too, and they said all this crap about gameboy advance being better than a pda, ummm can gba play quake i'm doubting that, maybe doom or wolf3d, i think wolf3d came out for super nintendo. they don't know anything they were talking about, "its all old people that play these anyway" sept me i'm freakin 17, moose is 17, diego is young, almost everyone on this board is youngin. that was a badly researched writeup

Yea, surely its more accurate to say more young people play it?!

With the exception of Dan and Chris I don't think any of us can be considered old :)

I don't think anyone on this forum is really that old at all... my dad is what I consider to be OLD, randall and 999 aren't even close! :D

GBA will feature Doom created by id Software that comes with a 4-way deathmatch play mode. I forget whether the GBA has an infra-red port or not, but I'm guessing yes.

so randall, by lifting the tables and chairs off the floor you got a big decrease in wpolys?

where'd you get them anyway?

Where'd I get what? the table and chairs?

They are made of brushes- I created them specifically for that room to see how they would affect the speed.

Anyway, yeah, the polys decreased substantially just by lifting them 1 unit off the floor (which is undetectable in the map). I think the room was hitting 120 as an average (Max wpoly was around 150).

Now I think it maxes out at around 80 wpoly.

Last modification: randall - 04/23/01 at 02:52:52

Lifting the chairs and tables 1 unit off the ground increases the speed because a brush that touches another brush causes that brush to split the brush, making (for a rectangle) 16 more polygons, depending on the texture size and the size of the brush that was split.
