Using the PQ console.........

Postby awesomeL337guy » Sep 20, 2001 @ 12:55pm

hey, i waned to change maps during the game so i opened the console, the problem is: how do i type in the console? my on-screen keyboard that my Casiopia EM-500 has can't open in the game, is there a way to change this? also i need to find a pak explorer that just lets me bring up the pak contents in an explorer format so i can swap files and delete unneeded one's, can you help me on this one?

That's because of the way Casio implements its direct screen access. The only solution (to my knowledge) is to implement a custom SIP in Pocket Quake. That's on the to-do list.

Dan East

I hope it's high on the list. Why not just make a bitmap that is overlayed as soon as you push the console button!? Is that that hard?

The quake font sucks ass.

I made a custom sip a while ago and hex-edited it into the EXE. It kind of resembled what Jacco did with aliCE, with the Quake buttons overlaying the keyboard keys.

I'd rather have my normal casio keyboard over the console. In doom it has the doom font, it sucks. I hated having to squint to see the letters, and on a keyboard that small it is important to have them clear.
hoe about a normal overlay - thats a 2 minute job. you could call it pq .63
I took me a good hour and a half to figure out how to work the menu and quake input. At first, i would open console, type help. This would allow me to have acess to the onscreen keyboard (with an ENTER button) And menu. This way i could acually use menu. Then, in my brillance, figured out the rocker-wheel on my jornada pushes in (this was a long while after i got quake working). I don't know if its only a problem i had, but maybe if you could get information on how PQ works on different pocket pc's, you could make the readme file alot more helpful.

DMB Fan
