See . The PQ-specific variable r_maxparticles is responsible for most of the FPS increase.

Dan East

Actually, the d_mipscale and d_mipcap are the main FPS increasers. Set them to something like 3 each for a huge increase.

and r_maxparticles does do a lot too, I wasn't saying that it is an ineffective var. But I found those two to be the best for speeding up the game.

My Jornada 720 numbers with build 0.62 and Moose's autoexec.cfg, 206MHz:

Timedemo demo1
320 X 240 Portrait: 6.0 fps
240 X 180 Portrait: 8.4 fps

Timerefresh (at player start, New Game)
320 X 240 Portrait: 4.1772 fps
240 X 180 Portrait: 5.1659 fps

I did have an earlier run in 320 X 240 at 6.1 fps, but I don't know what accounts for the variation.

I recommend doing a soft reset between each test. Also make sure your device is not synched with your PC.

Dan East

Same as above, overclocked to 221MHz:

Timedemo demo1
320 X 240: 6.5 fps
240 X 180: 9.1 fps

Overclocking to 236MHz produced first a lockup, then a storage card error warning (error code 20). No data loss noted.

After allocating all available memory to Program Memory (~27MB), at 206MHz:

320 X 240: 6.3 fps
240 X 180: 8.8 fps

Note also that I receive memory errors when trying to run PQ with less than ~22MB allocated to Program Memory.
