About the Proxy...

I have Analog-X's Proxy, and can connect ok through the cradle.. (IE & Yahoo-IM works ok) Is there anything special I must do to connect to the Pocket Quake Server? It tries, but no response from my ipaq.

204.111.78.124:6588 ?? I need to add the port of the proxy server in the address?

Can anyone connect through the cradle??

thanks

I use AnalogX here as well. To my knowledge each application that wants to use a proxy must use special protocols (Socks4 & 5). In other words, the app must be "proxy aware". Note that in IE, etc, you have to tell it you want it to use a proxy server. Adding proxy support to PQ is one of my TODO items.

Dan East

Oh, and the port number for the server is 26000, just like a normal Quake server.

I was afraid of that. Give me a couple weeks to get back at school and then I won't be behind this firewall of mine that tends to mess up Quake-style games. I can't even play Half-Life here because it's a cheap router that only supports 50 ports.

Okay, I'm at school, I'm running Tiny Personal Firewall, but I'm no longer behind the DSL modem's blocking so I should be accessible. The server's running DMMuseum with two skill 0 Frikbots and will handle up to 14 more people. If you can't log in, leave me a note and I'll deal with it. I managed to get in myself from the same machine, but the loopback was to my actual IP and not to the 192.168.x.x that I had to use at home. Most of the console commands should be accessible, so behave responsibly but have fun with it. I'll lock it down later, I guess.

The IP (sorry, forgot) is 129.174.180.236. This also means I'll be able to host at least one tourney server if it works, Chris.

PROXY IT!

Postby DillRye » Aug 29, 2001 @ 3:25pm

If you get a proxy server on your main machine, you can use your pocketpc on the internet through your cradle. I use mine for AIM while im playing games so i dont have to alt tab out of them. Should be the same idea for loading up quake and playing it on the net. Just requires a little bit of a setup.........

Doesn't work. Dan's still trying to add SOCKS4/5 support for proxies to PQ. He's having problems because it doesn't necessarily support UDP, I think.
