well he said the checksum is disabled in the source anyway so i assume pocketquake2 will have it disabled. so just ake your pak without testing it until he releases it.

Why don't you guys upload your smaller pack to the internet and have Dan download and test them to see if they work?

Yes, I will build using all the default source code defines, unless specifically told otherwise by id Software. Thus you will be able to play modified pak files with PQ2 without owning the registered version.

Dan East

I highly suggest you buy the registred version considering its the best game ever and you can get all three of the quake games for 30 bucks at wal-mart. You will be missing out with out the registered pak files

You guys, let me ask you this - What is the POINT of having Quake II on your PDA? Only the top of the line IPaq will be able to get 5 fps, and thats with reduced graphical detail and tons of other crap. It won't even be playable! I've ran quake 2 on my 1 gigihurtz athlon computer with software rendering and it ran like crap. It's a lost quest guys. It might be kindof cool to do just as a project, but in terms of use, its just not gonna happen...

Well if you listen then you would know on first release it is suppose to run about 4-5 fps on a 206 arm proccessor, but according to pocketgamer.org and Dan when optimized it should run as fast as pq1. If it runs as fast as pq1 with a custom map youll get like 15 to 20 fps on an ipaq, and with non customs pq1 usually gets 9 to 15 fps wich is also very playable. Also when the 400mhz arm is out with a power vr accelerater pq2 will run pretty nice. :) PQ2 is gonna kick some ass. The only problem o forsee is a dding mods becuase you will need to recompile there dll files to work on the ppc wich can only be accomplished with open source mods :(. Also i play pq1 in non optimized maps with mp3's in the background and with 6 reapers, it runs at about 3 to 5 fps but its all good i love it, it's fun. :)

I really would like the compiled exe or gamex86.dll to test with, i want to see how far i can strip the pak without losing to much playability, also see how i can make it run on my AMD k6-2 333, which has the brainpower of a p150 (*sigh) so it might be a good reference point (they also have next to nothing FPU). So Dan, could you perhaps email me the compiled file (non-ppc) without the checksum (i know nothing about programming, i don't want the source) i would really appreciate it, thanx.

Actually I do not have everything in place to generate a "big" windows version of Quake 2. I have only worked with eVC++ on the Q2 project I created.

Dan East

Yeah, well I PAID for Quake2. Yeah. I paid. I'm special. I paid $30 for Q1,2,&3. Yeah, I'm really special. (I'm being sarcastic, but I actually did buy them.) (BTW, don't look for anything truly meaningful or some hidden meaning.)
