Well then, I'd probably rate Pocket Counterstrike Beta at mediocre to poor then :) .

True, I'd probably rate it as mediocre. So we all agree the poll is unfair, can we go back to the topi- oh wait, this is the topic... My bad :P

As far as gameplay is concerned I would say that Quake if *far* more playable than say, Doom for Pocket PC.

Its not just about how fast (or not) it plays - I just find quake MUCH easier to control. They Stylus Mouse-Look makes it sooo much easier - thus fun - to play.

Umm.. I disagree. You don't even have to "look" in Doom. I think we need a new poll now, to see which is more playable P-Doom or P-Quake :)
I really like the game controls in PQ. Principally the stylus mouse-look thing. It works just like Rainbow 6 in pc and I am very used to this setting, so, I don´t see any problems with the control.

Diego Cueva
you don't have to look in Quake either. As long as you are lined up with the target horizontally, the weapon will automatically adjust vertically.

Just like Doom. Quake just allows you more freedom to look around at your environment.

I typically use the mlook feature to turn, and use the left/right arrow keys to strafe.

I agree, I never use look at all in Quake. I change the D-pad so that right and left 'turn' right and left, not strafe, and then the only buttons I use (and have used, even back when I played the PC version) are shoot, jump and and strafe. No, I don't even run, I'm too lazy and out of shape.

Heh, I'd love to challenge you guys in a PC match ;)

All I play is mutliplayer, and in the case of PQ, it's against bots.

Rule o' thumb my friends, Rockets do more damage when aimed at the legs of your target. This way, if you miss, you'll hit the ground near them and still rack up splash damage.

Additionally, if you hit their feet, you can send them flying, and catch them mid air and hold them in place with the Thunderbolt, or just cap them outta the air with another rocket. This physics feat was removed from Quake2 and partially implemented in Quake3. Yet another reason why Q1 is still the best.

I play Quake1 deathmatch most days at work during lunch - mainly because some of the PC are crap and onlt Quake1 will work :)

I still say PQ is better than Doom. Just the stylus to look/turn with one hand and use the D-Pad to strafe/forward/back and shoot with the other hand.

Using the custom PQ maps makes it better still..

If Pocket Doom had a similar control system, but with the stylus only controlling turning, then maybe it'll be better. As it stands tho, id rather play Quake - It's easier.

PocketQuake IS better than Doom, because it has an interface that makes sense on PPCs. The pop-up keyboard of Doom4CE is all but useless if you can't even run right. I still prefer Doom over Quake on a PC, though.

Nah, you guys are too athletic, I've never needed to run in Doom. For that matter I hardly have to strafe and turn at the same time in Doom either, the game is just much more simple than quake, it's never been required. Sometimes, it is a good idea to strafe and turn at the same time in quake, but not enough to warrant me having to actually do it... besides, i hate using my stylus to play on the ppc, that's why i have buttons.

I agree, its the controls that make PQ better than Doom, even though Doom runs faster.

Personally I dont really like the Quake games - I much prefer the 'realism' of CounterStrike and Day of Defeat. I have only really started playing Quake1 after starting my new job (about 18 months ago) I never liked the fact that even when you shoot someone with a rocket launcher they dont die - it allsways seemed to rely on luck rather than skill.

Having said that I still whoop the ass of my colleges at work :)
