I was thinking along the lines of changing numbers like 0.15 into (15/100) or 23.5 into (235/10). Apparently, in some CPUs this may seem like an extra calculation, but it is actually much quicker. Dunno if it will work on ARM/Xscale, though.

yes, well. You try changing all the numbers and calculations throughout Quake into fixed point. Perhaps then you'll understand the magnitude.
