Landscape mode on Siemens sx56

Landscape mode on Siemens sx56

Postby Kareo » May 13, 2003 @ 11:10pm

Hey guys, great port...it runs very well on my sx56 ppc phone.
My one problem I'm having is that I can't get it to escape out of the video mode screen after I choose a landscape mode. I have tried using the autoexec.cfg file to change what my hardware buttons do, but even after I set them all to togglemenu they still don't work to toggle the menu unless I wasn't already in a menu (IE they don't work to escape)

Any suggestions? I also couldn't figure out how to get it to default to landscape mode...

Oh, and while I'm asking questions...

I had a working full version of Quake on one of my old hard drives, but can't find any pak files in any of the directories...is this something that was only on the CD-rom (which is who-knows-where by now)?

The pak files should be in \Quake\id1

And just add the line vid_mode "1" to the autoexec.cfg file to make it landscape. It runs so slowly, however, that it's not usually recommended.

Thanks...still wondering though..

Thanks, I got it to switch to full screen mode with the added line in the autoexec.

It actually runs quite fast on my sx56 in full screen (which is surprising since it still only uses a 206 strongArm and I'm running it from an expansion card). It's definately better than playing it on the little screen.

However, I'm still having the same problem with the menu. Now, since it's in full screen mode and there is no "menu" button on the screen, if I go into the configure mode to change controls or anything else, I can't escape without reseting my device...

I also looked at my /quake/ID directory for my windows version of the game and didn't see any pak files. There are a bunch of directories and files under the /ID directory....if I copy these to my device will it still work?

Thanks for replying

You have to have pak files under id1, otherwise you wouldn't be able to play the game at all.

There are still several invisible buttons around the corner of the screen in landscape mode. I believe the bottom right activates the menu, the bottom left changes weapons, top left and right do something, left and right.
