Dan,

Any chance of a progress update and estimated release. Do you think the next rel will just include the new math routines? Or more?

I'm nearly complete with the first phase, which is editing the source code for the fixed point routines. I've already modified at least 2900 lines of code to use the new routines. The next phase is to weed out the runtime errors... Hopefully it will only be a few more days. When I get the fixed point routines stable, then I will release it. The only other real addition will be that Pocket Quake will be a registered version allowing the use of 3rd party wads.

I want to let other programmers contribute to this ASAP (sound, network, MIPS build, etc), and the fixed point conversion is really the only other core item that I felt must be finalized when the source gets distributed.

Dan East

So you have dropped the Mips build? Or are you encouraging others to take it on?

To my knowledge he has not dropped it, but rather he would like some more input on it so he can get it running as fast as it can.

I foresee very little work to build for MIPS. Essentially what is needed is to make the drawing routines flexible to adapt at runtime to the display hardware. Others have done this, so their work / experience can be plugged right in with little effort on their part. Plus they may have the target hardware in their possession, while I only have an iPaq.

Dan East
