Wolfenstein 3D for WinCE!!!

Wolfenstein 3D for WinCE!!!

Postby Warren » Mar 19, 2001 @ 11:55pm

In the world of WindowsCE gaming, we have Doom, Quake... but what's missing? What's probably the greatest first person shooter ever? Wolfenstein 3D!!! So naturally, we, the people, need someone with experience and the knowledge, to convert Wolfenstein 3d for WindowsCE! I've read somewhere that you can make Wolfenstein work on WinCE using SNES emulator, but that it runs real slow. So, can someone PLEASE take up the job in making Wolfenstein 3D for WinCE. Thanks

Hi,<br><br>Wolf would actually be much harder to convert than Quake and DOOM because Wolf was written in 80x86 assembly language.

If you're really desparate there's a secret level in the registered version of Doom 2 which is a Wolfenstein clone.<br><br>It ain't big but it's a pretty damn good version.<br>Soldier yelling in German and doggies squeeling etc.<br><br>Just get there and save the game and there you go !!

But is a secret level in Doom, really enough? We need the real Wolfenstein! Wolfenstein was, and still is, the only FPS where the maps are complex mazes. All other FPSs are straight forward shooting everything, using no brain power. Wolfenstein exercises the part of our brain for memory, because the mazes are so complex, so need to remember everywhere you've been. Come on! WHO HERE WANTS WOLFENSTEIN! If us WinCE gamers petition enough, we'll get someone to convert Wolfenstein, because we're too lazy to learn how to convert games! I'm a mapper, so I know about maps in FPS, but nothing about coding or programming. WE WANT WOLFENSTEIN! WE WANT WOLFENSTEIN!

YES! WOLFENSTEIN WOULD BE AWESOME TO HAVE IN YOUR POCKET. I MEAN COME ON! IF THIS GAME CAN FIT ON 1 OR 2 FLOPPY DISKS, THAN I SHOULD BE NOT PROBLEM TO CONVERT TO A WINCE FORMAT. AND WARREN IS RIGHT, I THINK WOLFENSTEIN IS THE ALL-TIME BEST FPS GAME! COME ON PROGRAMMERS! HELP US FILL OUR NEEDS!!

I downloaded the source to see how easy it would be. But I don't really want Wolfenstein for my pocket pc. Wolfenstein SUCKS. When I can play Doom at 35 FPS on my MIPS then why would I want Wolfenstein. It would require recoding for a 32 bit compiler, as it was originally made using a 16 bit compiler. I really don't want that job.<br>Someone did ask me for the source to code it for PocketPC. I sent him the source through email. Maybe he will come up with a port.

NAUTICA007 is right! It is THE best FPS ever! What's better than killing nazis? How about killing nazis with your pocket pc!! I remember the ol' days, Wolfenstein was my FIRST game! It was on (and still is) my old 1989 IBM MicroChannel, with OS2! I am a die-heart Wolfenstein fan, and MUST have it for pocket pc! I would think the team with the most experience would be Jimmy's team at www.jimmysoftware.com. Jimmy, if you are reading this, PLEASE consider converting Wolfenstein 3D for pocket pc! Thanks

Moose, you really don't want that job, cause you have no idea how to even go about it.  Just because you got embedded visual tools, downloaded the source for wolf-3d and read the readme file doesn't mean you have any idea what recoding to 32 bit even means.  Not that there's anything wrong with that, I just thought I'd point that out so that no one else here gives in to that idea immediately :)

Well, if you REALLY want Wolfenstein (I'm not crazy about about it myself...) then go to www.doomworld.com and find the WolfenDoom link.  It lets you play Wolfenstein (complete with the original levels and enimies) on the Doom engine.  I don't know if it works on Doom4CE, but it's worth a shot.
