CE 2.x blows. There are games for it though, somewhere. Search around.

Actually, I think you can find a version of Doom for Jornada 720, check out revolutionary software front's version. Here's the link
http://revolution.cx/Last modification: Jaybot - 03/31/01 at 20:04:43

I didn't know that either. And, I really didn't mind 2.11 that much, in fact, in some ways, I think it was better.. but that's not what this is about. So, if the Jornado 720, runs on StrongARM then technically it could work with the Ipaq version.. almost, all someone would really have to do would change the blitting routines in the source (i think) and recompile for StrongARM (almost a mix between the MIPS and ARM versions).
Also, I think conduits has a version of Doom for Jornada 720 also.

I can't find any ARM or StrongARM FPS game (unless you like TankZone.)

DoomCE (on the revolution.cx site) is available only for SH3 and MIPS.

Conduits' PocketDoom is for Palm-Size PC (beat me why it's called PocketDoom.) The format isn't right and neither is the version of WinCE, but those are minor details. The fact that there are no ARM Palm-Size PCs, and thus none of the code would be compiled for it, is a major detail.

The closest I found was WarriorCE, an older Jimmy game. While the format was for handhelds, it was compiled for SH3 and MIPS. On top of that, it doesn't look like Jimmy supports it, or at least sells it, since I can't find any mention of it on their site.Last modification: SonicSilicon - 03/31/01 at 20:42:34

Sorry, I fell bad now... the only reason I said the revolution noe was because he said he was working on it (like a year ago) and I thought it would be done by now... "Requested Doom features that are on my worklist:

fully configurable controls (taps, keys, buttons, touchpad) with better defaults - rotation control - StrongARM support - .wad selector and finder - install program - multiplayer network support - music."

I was just guessing on the conduits one... sorry. I'll see what else I can dig up for you though.

Out of curiousity, have you tried using any of the Ipaq versions on hte Jornada? I know it wont look right automatically... but with the gx.dll file, it should atleast run.. I think. If that's true, then it would be no problem to change afew properties and make it display correctly.. So try it out and see if it runs (make sure you have the gx.dll file in \windows\ directory)... and post back.

All of you that say they hate CE 2.11 should get your facts straight.
The Jornada 720 does not run CE 2.11. It runs CE 3.0, handheld version, which seems to be a combination of pocket PC, and CE 2.11.

Brian
