I lost my buttons

I lost my buttons

Postby denmage » Apr 20, 2001 @ 1:23am

Help!  I just installed Pocket Quake on my HP Jornada 548.  At first I got the not enough memory message, then it exited.  But my four command buttons refused to work.  I got the memory situation straightened out, went back in and exited the program.  But my four buttons do not work.  In setup it says they are properly assigned.  They just don't DO anything when I push them.  I have rebooted, but that didn't help either.  Short of a hard reset is there anything I can do to get my buttons back?<br><br>Denis Perreault

I know this sounds stupid, but try increasing a bit of the storage memory, sometimes PPCs start acting strangely if you have a low amount of Storage memory.

Believe it or not I did that.  I got it up to 10.5 Meg.  But no luck.

Go to your today screen and look for the gamepad icon in the bottom left corner.<br><br>If its there (and theres no X on it) buttons should work in Quake but not in the other progs - disable it when not in Quake so you can use them<br><br>Dunno if thats helped or not...<br><br>Oh yeah, I find I can get storage mem down to about 1.6mb before it complains. Obviously the program mem needs to be about 7.5mbs or whatever<br>Last modification: Paul - 04/19/01 at 22:45:11

Thanks, Paul!!  That did the trick.  I disabled the game pad and everything works again.  Whew!  I was afraid I was going to have to run home and start looking for my original disks so I could reload after a hard reset -- a fate worse than death.<br><br>THANK YOU !

A Jornada thing? Yeah, I think I've heard of their program causing similar problems. I'll have to ask at the next local PC User Group meeting.<br><br>By the way, did you no Jornadas have a built in landscape mode?!

Yes I did, I was almost jealous of them when that was discovered before JS Landscape came out.  But now JS Landscape does quite a bit more than that... oh, if anyone's wondering you get the run program box by holding down the action button and then tap and hold the stylus over the clock.  type in rotate r  and then i think you soft reset and it should be landscaped.  Make sure you have any password protection of if you are doing it. :D
