PocketQuake- memory and how to install ???

Postby Jason » Apr 26, 2001 @ 6:55am

Hello everybody. I desperately want to play the pocket version on quake on my IPAQ. I gor two questions:

1. How do I install the program exactly? Which files do i need, and where do they go?

2. I have a standard 32 mb ram. This seems very little if tha pak-file alone is almost 18 mb?

How can i get other maps?

Please reply to jason@restplass.no
And thank you!!!!!!

Hi Jason,

You can start by reading the TXT file included in the PocketQuake install zip file.

If you're still having problems, drop us another post and we'll see what we can do about gettin' ya going.

For more maps, take a look at the threads here, or check out Paul's PocketQuake site. The URL can be found in his posts as a signature.

Also, to play custom maps, you do need to own quake.

oh yeah, to play maps you also need the pak1.pak file (at least the pop file, you can dump the rest) on your ppc in the id1 folder

Yea, I find that simply placing the pop.lmp file inside a gfx folder, then place that in the ID1 folder does the trick nicely.

I bet I don't even need the pop.lmp inside a gfx folder come to think of it, just so long as it's in the ID1 folder :)

Paul:

Yes, originally, I had the pop.lmp file within my pak0.pak's gfx folder. It worked fine :)

However, as of lately, I've simply put a gfx folder with the pop.lmp file inside it, into my ID1 folder. This really makes it easy when I'm moving pak files around to test things out.
